Olympiade Internationale de Physique Théorique
The International Theoretical Physics Olympiad was founded in 2016 as an annual competition in theoretical physics for students at secondary and tertiary institutions.
The competition was held annually from 2016 to 2021. During this period, participants included students from institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Peking University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, University of Cambridge, and ETH Zürich.
Following the conclusion of the 2021 competition cycle, operational responsibility for the ITPO was transferred to the current Secretariat.
The Secretariat has undertaken the digitization and preservation of historical records from the 2016–2021 period, which are maintained as the official archive.
The ITPO operates under the governance framework established by the ITPO Statutes (Version 2.1, ratified January 2024).
The Secretariat serves as the executive body responsible for maintaining the official website, coordinating competition cycles, and appointing the International Academic Committee and Jury.
The International Academic Committee, composed of physicists from research institutions, is responsible for problem selection and evaluation standards.
The Secretariat is coordinating arrangements for future competition cycles. Announcements regarding registration procedures and competition dates will be published through official channels.
Inquiries regarding participation, access to the problem archive, or institutional collaboration may be directed to the Secretariat.
Note: For the complete governance framework and eligibility requirements, refer to the ITPO Statutes.
